Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Somali National Armed Forces (SNA), with the support of local heroes known as Macawisley, dealt a significant blow to the al-Shabaab terrorists following a fierce battle in the areas of Mabaax and Gayacad in Hiiraan region, HirShabelle State.
More than 20 al-Shabaab militants were killed in the operation, with many others wounded.
The Armed Forces and local fighters continue pursuit operations to eliminate fleeing remnants of the group and ensure the complete dismantling of their presence in the area.
The Federal Government of Somalia reiterates its unwavering commitment to protecting the Somali people, preserving national unity, and eradicating the terrorist group al-Shabaab, which continues to shed innocent blood.
