Istanbul, (SONNA) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, is representing the Federal Government of Somalia at the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which officially opened today in Istanbul.
The two-day summit, taking place from June 21 to 22, brings together top diplomats from across the Islamic world to address pressing global and regional challenges. High on the agenda is the escalating tension between Israel and Iran, with member states expected to issue a joint declaration calling for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation to preserve regional stability.
Minister Abdisalam is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other OIC member states, aimed at strengthening Somalia’s diplomatic ties and advancing cooperation within the Islamic world.
The summit comes at a time of heightened geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East, and the OIC’s collective efforts are expected to focus on promoting sustainable peace and security across the region.
