Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Somalia’s State Minister for Defense, MP Omar Ali Abdi, has provided details on a recent planned military operation targeting the Al-Shabaab extremist group in the Lower Shabelle region.
According to the Minister, the operation resulted in the capture of several Al-Shabaab militants and the seizure of a large cache of weapons. The offensive is part of ongoing national efforts to dismantle the group’s presence and operations across the country.
The Ministry of Defense commended the bravery of Somali National Army (SNA) troops and allied forces from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), particularly those involved in the ongoing “Operation Silent Storm,” aimed at liberating the country from terrorist control.
