Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has emphasized the importance of government leaders consulting with the public and respecting their concerns to avoid imposing unpopular decisions.

Speaking during the handover ceremony of the new Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mahad Mohamed Salad, President Hassan Sheikh stated that the government is committed to inclusive consultation with all sectors of society, including intellectuals, political figures, and ordinary citizens.

“The people’s voice must be heard, and their concerns must be taken seriously,” the President said, underlining that while final decisions rest with the country’s constitutional institutions, national leadership should remain open to public input and feedback.

He further noted that Somalia is entering a critical phase of development and progress, requiring unity and cooperation to position the nation competitively within the region. Highlighting recent advancements, he declared, “Today, we have reached the stage where we can begin harnessing our own natural resources,” describing it as a visible milestone in the government’s achievements.

The remarks were delivered during a key ceremony marking the leadership transition within Somalia’s top intelligence agency, signaling both institutional continuity and the government’s focus on transparency and public engagement.
