Mogadishu, Somalia – The elite Danab Commando Force of the Somali National Army (SNA) neutralized 21 Khwaarij militants during a targeted operation in Baladul-Amin area, Lower Shabelle region.
The pre-planned military strike successfully eliminated the Khwaarij’s local commander in the area along with 20 of his fighters. Military officials confirmed the operation concluded as designed, dealing a significant blow to the terrorist network’s operations in the region.
The operation forms part of the Somali government’s intensified campaign against the Khwaarij militants, with the US-trained Danab forces leading many of these precision engagements. Authorities confirmed no civilian casualties occurred during the mission.
This latest success follows a series of recent victories by Somali forces against the Khwaarij, who have waged a violent insurgency against the Somali government for years. The militants continue to lose territory and leadership figures to coordinated military operations.
