Mogadishu, (SONNA) – In a joint counter-terrorism operation this evening, the Somali National Armed Forces, alongside local community defense units from Mabaax, launched a coordinated assault on Al-Shabaab militants who had been regrouping near Adan Yabaal, in the Middle Shabelle region.
The well-planned operation, which took place around sunset, resulted in a fierce firefight and inflicted significant casualties on the militants. Military officials confirmed that the mission successfully disrupted a planned attack by the terror group, with many militants killed and their positions overrun.
Commanders leading the operation told National Media that the offensive unfolded as intended and that multiple militant bodies remain at the site as assessments continue.
This latest success marks another step forward in the Somali government’s broader campaign to eliminate terrorist threats and restore stability across the country. Further updates will follow via official channels.
