Bosaso, (SONNA) – Puntland’s elite Darawish forces successfully foiled an early morning ambush by ISIS militants targeting military outposts in the mountainous region of Bari. The attackers were swiftly neutralised, and follow-up operations are underway to track down those who fled.
The ambush attempt followed a separate operation a day earlier in the Ceelka Togga Miiraale area, where Puntland forces killed several ISIS militants hiding in underground bunkers. The operation cleared the area and destroyed key hideouts used by the group.
Security officials say these back-to-back operations reflect Puntland’s strengthened efforts to eliminate ISIS presence and maintain stability in the region.
