Tashkent, (SONNA) — The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Hon. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, is attending the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Tashkent, leading a delegation from both houses of the Somali Parliament. The delegation also includes the Secretary-General of the House of the People, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jaabiri).
This year’s Assembly focuses on the theme “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”. Delegates from around the world are expected to engage in high-level discussions and share perspectives on how parliaments can drive inclusive development and justice.
During the Assembly, Deputy Speaker Abshirow is scheduled to deliver a speech highlighting Somalia’s progress in the fight against terrorism, as well as ongoing efforts in justice reform, national security, and social development.
The IPU Assembly serves as a platform for parliamentary leaders to exchange ideas, build cooperation, and shape global policy on pressing issues affecting their nations and the international community.
