Geneva, SONNA — The Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ahmed Isse Guutaale, is leading a delegation at the 14th United Nations Conference on International Debt Management for Trade and Development (CIDDM) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The biennial conference, held from March 17 to 19, brings together global financial experts and policymakers to discuss strategies for managing sovereign debt, enhancing financial resilience, and addressing risks linked to global economic crises.
Somalia’s participation in this key forum underscores its success in managing debt, following its achievement of full debt relief under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative. The conference serves as an opportunity for Somalia to share its experience while engaging in discussions on global financing challenges and sustainable debt solutions.
The event also focuses on setting the financing agenda for development, ensuring that countries emerging from debt distress can access sustainable financial mechanisms to support economic growth.
