Mogadishu, SONNA – The Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adaala, led a high-level delegation to the prestigious ITB Berlin Annual Conference, held in the German capital, Berlin. The delegation included the Somali Ambassador to Germany, Ambassador Abdiasis Farabadane, the Director of the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Information, and other senior officials.

The ITB Berlin Conference, one of the world’s largest tourism trade fairs, brought together leaders and stakeholders from across the globe, including member countries of the East African Economic Cooperation Regional Organization. The event served as a platform for Somalia to highlight its untapped natural tourism potential and investment opportunities in the tourism sector.

During the conference, the Somali delegation presented detailed reports on the country’s rich natural tourism resources, including pristine beaches, historical sites, and diverse cultural heritage. The presentations also emphasized the growing investment opportunities in Somalia’s tourism industry, which is poised for revitalization as the country continues to rebuild and stabilize.

Deputy Minister Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adaala expressed optimism about Somalia’s tourism prospects, stating, “Somalia is a land of immense natural beauty and cultural richness. Our participation in ITB Berlin is a significant step toward showcasing our potential to the world and attracting international investors to explore the opportunities in our tourism sector.”

The Somali delegation also engaged in bilateral meetings with representatives from other countries and international organizations, discussing collaborative efforts to promote sustainable tourism and economic development in the region.

This marks a pivotal moment for Somalia as it seeks to re-establish itself as a competitive destination on the global tourism map. The Federal Government’s active participation in international forums like ITB Berlin emphasizes its commitment to leveraging tourism as a key driver of economic growth and job creation.

As Somalia continues to make strides in peacebuilding and development, the global community is increasingly recognizing the country’s potential as a hub for tourism and investment in the Horn of Africa.
