Mogadishu, (SONNA) — Local council and representative elections are scheduled to take place tomorrow, 10 May, across areas administered by South West State of Somalia. The polls will be held in 13 districts located in the Bay, Bakool and Lower Shabelle regions.
Journalists from the Somali National Media are stationed at the polling locations and will provide live coverage throughout the electoral process. Residents across South West State have widely welcomed the elections, describing them as an important step toward progress, representation and a better future.
Abdi Mursal, a 70-year-old elder, said the public vote has given communities renewed hope. “I am 70 years old, and this public election has brought me hope and a brighter future,” he said.
Meanwhile, a voter identified as Hooyo Wacan expressed excitement ahead of the polls. “God willing, tomorrow I will cast my vote using this card while carrying my child,” she said.
