Baidoa, (SONNA) – The President of Southwest State of Somalia, H.E Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, recently visited Shaati Gaduud Airport in Baidoa to inspect the progress of the new terminal under construction. Accompanied by regional officials, including the Minister of Transport, Mr. Hassan Hussein Mohamed (Eeley), and the Mayor of Baidoa, President Laftagareen met with engineers and the committee responsible for the construction.
During the visit, the President commended the team for their hard work and encouraged them to continue the development of the terminal to enhance the airport’s services and aesthetics.
The Southwest State government has prioritized expanding Shaati Gaduud Airport due to its growing importance, with frequent flights servicing the Bay Region. This expansion is aimed at improving connectivity and stimulating economic development in the area.
The new terminal is expected to significantly increase the airport’s capacity, allowing for more flights and passengers, which will contribute to the overall growth of the region’s infrastructure and economy.
