Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia and Head of AUSSOM, Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, welcomes the Joint Communiqué issued on 11 January 2025 in Addis Ababa, following discussions between H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and H.E. Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The SRCC commends this important milestone in bilateral relations, which reaffirms the enduring commitments made under the Ankara Declaration. He highlights the significance of the renewed focus on enhancing diplomatic ties, strengthening security cooperation, and promoting economic integration, all of which are crucial for advancing regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
AUSSOM remains committed to supporting Somalia’s stabilization efforts and regional partnerships, in alignment with the aspirations of the Somali people and the African Union’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous Africa.
