Mogadishu, (SONNA): The Minister of Public Works, Dr. Elmi Mahmoud, speaking at the national media week meeting, highlighted the ongoing efforts in rebuilding Somalia’s economic infrastructure. He emphasized that the country is steadily recovering from the civil war and is making significant strides in its reconstruction projects.
Dr. Mahmoud pointed out Somalia’s strategic location, which connects it to the countries of the Horn of Africa. He stressed the importance of constructing long-distance roads that reach the borders to facilitate the transfer of goods and services.
“The country is situated in a strategic position that connects it to the Horn of Africa. Therefore, it is essential to build long-distance roads that reach the borders and facilitate the transfer of goods and other services,” he stated.
The Minister outlined the ministry’s short and long-term plans aimed at completing vital economic infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and other essential services that impact the daily lives of the Somali people.
Dr. Mahmoud also mentioned that a national study plan is currently underway. With the cooperation of interested countries, the plan envisions the construction of housing in urban areas, which will be available for ordinary citizens and government employees.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Public Works to improving infrastructure and fostering development, ultimately contributing to the nation’s overall progress and stability.
