Beijing, (SONNA) – The Somali Ambassador to China, Dr. Hodan Osman, conducted a series of visits this week to assess the conditions of the Somali diaspora residing in various regions of China. During her visit to Guangzhou, she met with Somali businessmen, traders, and students to address their concerns and explore avenues for mutual cooperation.
The businessmen and traders raised pressing issues related to obtaining business visas with Somali passports and emphasized the need for establishing a dedicated Somali Chamber of Commerce in China. Students, on the other hand, requested the creation of an office specifically tasked with representing their interests and addressing their challenges.
In response, Ambassador Hodan pledged to relay these concerns to the relevant authorities, assuring the community of her commitment to advocate for their needs. She also urged Somali traders to focus on importing Somali resources, a move that could boost Somalia’s economy while adhering to the laws of their host country.
The ambassador reiterated the Somali Embassy’s open-door policy, emphasizing its readiness to support the diaspora at any time. This proactive engagement underscores the embassy’s dedication to fostering unity and promoting the welfare of Somalis in China.
