Muscat (SONNA) – The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Fardowsa Osman Igall, along with her delegation, participated in the ICAO Security Week conference held in Muscat, Oman. During the conference, Minister Igall met with the Minister of Transport, Communications and Technology of the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Eng. Hamood Saeed Al Mawaali.
The discussions centered on the strong relationship and brotherhood between Somalia and Oman in the fields of transport and aviation. Key topics included the completion of the Somalia-Oman Airspace Agreement, with a particular focus on creating new opportunities in trade, tourism, and investment.
Minister Igall highlighted the extensive investment opportunities available in Somalia, not only in transport and aviation but also in critical infrastructure such as roads, ports, and other areas of mutual benefit. The two ministers emphasized the importance of further strengthening relations between the two nations.
In a significant development, Minister Igall extended an invitation to H.E. Eng. Al Mawaali to visit Somalia within the month, which he graciously accepted.
The meeting also explored opportunities for technical cooperation in crucial areas of civil aviation, including capacity building, aviation security, safety, and air navigation services.
Minister Igall expressed her gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for the warm welcome extended to her and her delegation during the ICAO Security Week event. She underscored the importance of this event in advancing global aviation safety and reiterated the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation between Somalia and Oman.
