The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Saleh Ahmed Jama, met with members of the Somali diaspora in the United States on Monday, and discussed with them the current situation and progress of the country.
The meeting, which took place at a dinner hosted by the Deputy PM in Washington DC, was attended by representatives of various Somali communities and organizations in the US, especially those living in the capital and its surrounding areas.
During the meeting, Saleh briefed the attendees on the achievements and challenges of the federal government, and highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance security, stability, governance, and economic development in Somalia.
He also praised the role and contribution of the Somali diaspora in supporting their homeland, and urged them to continue their engagement and participation in the national development process.
Saleh said that the federal government is committed to creating a conducive environment for the return and reintegration of the Somali expatriates, and to providing them with opportunities to invest and work in the country.
He added that the government values the input and feedback of the Somali diaspora, and welcomes their suggestions and recommendations on how to improve the situation and address the needs and aspirations of the Somali people.
The meeting was part of the Deputy PM’s official visit to the US, where he also held talks with senior US officials and partners on bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
