MOGADISHU, SONNA – The Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Salah Jama, chaired the Somalia-EU Joint Operational Roadmap meeting in Mogadishu on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Federal Government of Somalia and the European Union delegation to Somalia.
The Somalia-EU Joint Operational Roadmap is a framework for cooperation and coordination between Somalia and the EU on key areas of mutual interest, such as political, security, economic, and social development. The meeting aimed to review the progress and challenges of the roadmap and to identify the priorities and actions for the next period.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Jama expressed his appreciation for the EU’s continued support and partnership with Somalia. He also reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to ensuring the delivery of key pillars in the national development priorities, emphasizing inclusive politics, security and stabilization, as well as socio-economic progress.
He said that the government is committed to advancing the constitutional review process, holding timely and credible elections, enhancing security sector reform and governance, combating terrorism and violent extremism, strengthening state-building and federalism, promoting human rights and rule of law, and improving service delivery and economic recovery.
