Dhuusamareeb, Galmudug – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in the bustling city of Dhuusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug Regional State, accompanied by a prestigious delegation comprising government ministers and military officials. The purpose of this historic visit is to fortify collaboration and coordination between the central government and Galmudug’s administration and security forces in their unwavering commitment to combat the menace of Al-Shabaab.

Warmly greeted by Galmudug Regional State President Ahmed Abdi Kariye and Vice President Ali Dahir Eid, along with the esteemed Speaker and Members of the Parliament of Galmudug, President Mohamud’s arrival underscores the united front against extremism. The President has taken the extraordinary step of temporarily relocating his office to Dhuusamareeb, where he will lead operations in the days to come, symbolizing his administration’s dedication to completing the first phase of the operation against Al-Shabaab.

Since his re-election last year, President Mohamud has spearheaded a comprehensive two-phase counterterrorism operation. The successful culmination of phase one saw the liberation of both Hirshabelle State and Galmudug State, a significant stride toward curbing the influence of Al-Shabaab in the region. With the imminent completion of this initial phase, the focus will seamlessly shift to the broader and more ambitious phase two.

The forthcoming phase, slated to commence promptly after the conclusion of the first, is poised to extend its scope across the Southwest State and Jubbaland State. This strategic expansion reflects the administration’s unwavering determination to eradicate the Al-Shabaab insurgency and establish enduring peace across the region.

President Mohamud emphasized the indomitable spirit of Galmudug’s populace and leadership in their resolute stance against extremist elements. He underscored the paramount significance of ongoing stabilization efforts within the Galmudug region, highlighting the administration’s commitment to conflict resolution, community engagement, and bolstering national defense capabilities.

As President Mohamud takes this momentous step on Galmudug soil, his visit heralds a new era of strengthened partnerships and consolidated efforts in the relentless pursuit of peace and security. The united front against terror stands as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path toward a brighter and more secure future for Somalia and its resilient people.
