Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somali National Army’s Commandos Units, Danab and Gor-gor on Wednesday killed 30 terrorist members of Al-Shabaab after fighting between the two sides at border areas of Galgudud and middle Shabelle regions, SONNA reported.
Deputy Minister of Information, Abdirahman Yusuf Al-adala told the Somali National News Agency SONNA that the forces recovered weapons during the operation, saying the terrorists could not even collect their dead bodies as they were defeated.
“Our forces took swift action against Al-Shabaab terrorists who were regrouping at the area. We killed 30 Khawarij fighters and forced them to flee from their dead bodies. We are committed to destroying the terrorist network in these region and throughout the country”, Adala said.
The operation comes days before the Government plans to launch the second phase of the total war on the group fighters in the the country.
” 200 Al-Shabaab operatives neutralized in various regions in a week”, Spokesperson of the Somalia’s Ministry of Defense, Gen. Abdullahi Ali Anod said in a press conference this afternoon.
