Mogadishu – Today, the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre, officially opened the doors to the resumption of Somali livestock exports to Saudi Arabia. This move is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the Somali people and businesses, creating job opportunities and boosting the country’s overall economic growth.

In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the success achieved in reopening the Somali Livestock Export to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He emphasized the positive impact this would have on the Somali economy, as it would provide avenues for increased trade and export revenue, particularly in the livestock sector.

The resumption of livestock exports to Saudi Arabia signifies a promising milestone for Somalia. Livestock has long been a crucial economic asset for the country, and the reopening of this market will further strengthen its position in the global trade arena. Prime Minister Barre expressed his optimism, stating that the Somali people and entrepreneurs would greatly benefit from the economic opportunities arising from this development.

“The resumption of livestock exports to Saudi Arabia will not only boost our economy but also create numerous job opportunities for our people. It is essential that we utilize this opportunity to maximize the benefits and contribute to the overall welfare of our nation,” he added.

Recognizing the significance of livestock resources, Prime Minister Hamza assured that the Somali government would prioritize the effective management and sustainable utilization of this valuable asset. The government aims to enhance the infrastructure and regulatory framework surrounding the livestock sector to ensure its long-term viability and profitability.

The Prime Minister encouraged Somali entrepreneurs and businesses to capitalize on this reopening of the livestock export market. He emphasized the importance of exploring and maximizing opportunities in not only the livestock sector but also in agriculture, fishing, and horticulture. By actively participating in these sectors, Somalia can harness its economic potential and foster a prosperous future for its people.

The resumption of Somali livestock exports to Saudi Arabia marks a significant step forward for Somalia’s economy. With a strong focus on sustainable management and increased trade opportunities, the country is poised to benefit from this milestone, creating a pathway towards economic growth and prosperity for its citizens.
