Khartum, SONNA – In a recent meeting, the Federal Government of Somalia’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, and Sudan’s Minister of Health, Dr. Haytham Mohamed Ibrahim, discussed ways to improve and strengthen the healthcare sector in both countries.

The two ministers agreed to enhance their nations’ relationship by strengthening cooperation and collaboration between their Ministries. They also addressed the challenges faced by Somali students in the final year of their medical internship and agreed to resolve them.

Sudan will be sending medical personnel to Somalia to perform various surgeries and provide training to Somalia’s healthcare personnel in various departments. On the other hand, Sudan’s health organizations will be participating in the development and strengthening of Somalia’s healthcare organizations, including the establishment of a national medical council, the enhancement and acceleration of the work of the Medical Professionals Council, and the completion of a national pharmaceutical regulation system.

The Supreme Council of Medical Professionals of Sudan, established in 1955, agreed to make an official visit to Somalia to help with the development of Somalia’s healthcare sector.

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Health and Social Care is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to its citizens and improving the healthcare sector in the country.

This meeting marks a significant step forward the collaboration between the two nations in the healthcare sector and highlights the commitment of both nations to provide quality healthcare services to their citizens.
