Mogadishu (SONNA) – Somali National Army with the support of local forces on Sunday captured Masagawa district in Galgudud region in central Somalia after conducting operation against Al-Shabaab there, SONNA reported.

Masagawa town has been under Al-Shabaab militants’ control in the past 15 years.

SNA forces are currently carrying out operation in an area about 10 kilometers west of Harardhere town in Mudug region under the same Galmudug State in Somalia.

It is too early to comment on cassualties so far, but Al-Shabaab militants suffer daily loss of fighters and areas.

Yesterday, at least 7 Al-Shabaab militants were killed and others injured after infighting among the Al-Shabaab group at Amara town under Haradhere in Mudug region in central Somalia.

Security sources said that the conflict was between two sides of Al-Shabaab terrorists, one wing intending to surrender to SNA forces near the area and others who were against it.

The Sources added that the fighting between the two sides of the militants took more than an hour

“Signs of defeated group is reported from the terrorists. Conflict, disobedience, not listening to one another and big suspicious among them”, Deputy Minister of Information of Somalia, Abdirahman Yusuf Adala said on Facebook Post.
