Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somalia is marking the 4th anniversary of the deadliest terrorist truck bombing on October 14, 2017 that left about 1,000 people dead and injured hundreds of innocent civilians at the busiest intersection, Zope in Mogadishu.

The devastating terrorist attack caused heavy casualties on both human and properties, destruction of large areas of building mostly business centers, hotels and residences and made about 2,000 children orphans according to SONNA and committee assigned to record and assist victims of that attack.

There are commemorations to remember and honor victims of the deadliest attack in Somalia and in the world after September 11, 2001 here in Mogadishu and across the country at moment.

The worst disturbing is that there are some families who never found and learned about the whereabouts of their loved ones after the tragedy.

Minister of Information of Somalia, Osman Abokar Dubbe described 14th of October as dark day which Somali government and its people will never forget and prayed the martyred of the genocide to rest their souls in peace.

“In this day 2017, the terror- group of Al-Shabaab carried out heinous and cowardly truck bombing, targeting civilians”, Dubbe said.

Somalia’s International diplomatic community also expressed solidarity with Somali people on the remembering day of 14 October, 2017.

“Today is the fourth anniversary of the devastating bombings in #Mogadishu on 14 October 2017. The thoughts of all at the British Embassy are with those whose lives were affected. The UK stands in solidarity with Somalia”,  UK Ambassador to Somalia, Kate Foster said on Twitter post.

United States Embassy in Mogadishu also said in twitter post that it reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the government and people of Somalia in countering violent extremism and terrorism.

“Today we remember and honor the victims of the horrific October 14 terrorist attack in #Mogadishu. The United States reaffirms its commitment to stand with the government and people of #Somalia in countering violent extremism and terrorism”, the embassy said.
