Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre participated in the celebration of Turkey’s National Youth and Sports Day, held at the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that the future of every nation rests in the hands of its youth, and urged young people to lead their countries with integrity and vision in order to drive progress and development.

Prime Minister Hamza extended heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of Türkiye on the occasion and underscored the historic and fraternal ties between Somalia and Turkey, built on mutual respect, cooperation, and unwavering solidarity.

“Somalia and Türkiye share a deep-rooted brotherhood founded on trust and support. During our most difficult times, Turkey stood by us — building hospitals, roads, schools, and hope. They trained our forces, strengthened our institutions, and supported our people,” he stated.

The event also featured a cultural showcase, including sports performances to mark both Turkey’s Youth Day on May 19 and Somalia’s Youth Day, celebrated annually on May 15.
