VALIDATION CONFERENCE OF THE NATIONAL COMMUNICATION STRATEGY CONCLUDED IN MOGADISHU

21 AUGUST, 2023: The Information Minister of the Federal Government, the Ministries of Information of Federal Member States and the Banadir Administration’s Director General of Media and, have today validated the National Communication Strategy presented before the international partners and donors at Hanger in AAIA in Mogadishu, Somalia.

The international partners and donors present at the conference, including the US, UK, China, Norway Kenya Italy and UNSOM, who spoke at the validation conference after the presentation of the Strategy, welcome the presentation of the National Communication Strategy for Somalia which will unify the messages of the Federal Government, the FMS and Banadir Regional Communications within the next 5 years.

The minister of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, said that the National Communication Strategy went through a through process of consultations and discussion which was sometimes with high pressure and finally concluded an agreement with all ministers of Information and Banadir Region to unify the government institutions’ messages in all levels of government and from today onwards they will all work together in the implementation of the NCS.

Somalia’s ministries of information and Banadir Regional Communication Department, have signed the National Communications Strategy and have also given speeches one by one expressed their happiness to have been part in the development of this Strategy and said that they will be committed to cooperate in the implementation of this National Communication Strategy. The first steps of the implementation stage will include deciding the terms of conditions of the Government Communication Office (GCO) for the duration of the 2 and half years when monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to improve the last 2 years of the 5 year National Communications Strategy.

The minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama who closed the conference and who met the representative of the ambassadors and donors, has requested them to work with the ministries of Information and Banadir Regional Communication Department in their efforts to implement the National Communication Strategy.

Minister Aweis, has also called on the ministers of Information of the Federal Member States and Banadir Regional Communications department to make true of their commitments and work the Federal Ministry of Information to lead all communications and campaigns and communication strategies of the Somalia in fighting the terrorists during the operations to liberate towns and cities and held by the Khawarij or the Stabilization Communication campaigns of Somalia.

Minister Aweis, has finally thanked all the experts and ministers involved in the development of the National Communication Strategy, as well as the participants of the consultation and validation meetings including the international partners and donor countries and their implementing partners.
