Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia has approved a series of key draft laws, policies, and international agreements aimed at strengthening state institutions, enhancing cooperation, and advancing national development.

During its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, the Cabinet endorsed major initiatives including the establishment of a Somali Airports Authority, a national policy for the protection of civilians during military operations, and legislation to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

The Cabinet also approved regulations governing foreign labor matters, as well as several international agreements, including maritime safety conventions and a memorandum of understanding with Spain on political consultations. Additionally, ministers passed a resolution to implement an open and competitive procurement system.

The meeting commended the Somali National Armed Forces for recent gains against militant groups, including the liberation of new areas and efforts to secure key routes such as the road linking Mogadishu and Baidoa.

Security and defense officials briefed the Cabinet on ongoing operations targeting remaining militant, with further offensives planned to clear the last areas under their control.

The Cabinet also praised residents in Southwest State, particularly in Baidoa, for their support of national forces, and highlighted the professionalism demonstrated by troops during recent operations.
