Mogadishu, (SONNA) -The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, H.E. Daud Aweis Jama, along with the Deputy Minister, H.E. Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala, and the Director General, Mr. Abdullahi Hayir Duale, extended their congratulations to the leadership and staff of the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) on its 61st anniversary. This milestone marks SONNA’s establishment on January 5, 1964, as a foundational pillar of Somali media.
H.E. Daud Aweis and H.E. Abdirahman Yusuf praised SONNA’s pivotal role in bridging Somalia with the international community. They emphasized the agency’s dedication to delivering accurate, reliable news that has strengthened its position as a trusted source of information both nationally and globally.
The Ministry leadership commended SONNA for its contributions to national unity and Somalia’s global outreach. They encouraged the agency to continue advancing the media sector, upholding professional and ethical journalism, and fostering a positive image of Somalia on the world stage.
