Mogadishu (SONNA):Somalia’s Special Representative at the UN and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia Mr.James swan urged the National counsltative council (NCC) to set a timeline for the completion of the elections.
Mr. Swan stated that the International Community recognize that many procedural irregularities have already been seen in the House of the People elections conducted thus far and urged the NCC to use this opportunity to correct those deficiencies and make the electoral process more transparent and credible.
In addition,Mr.Swan urged the National counslative council to set a realistic and achiveiable timeline for the completion of the elections which all the Federal Member States leaders genuinely commit.
“We continue to support the NCC in its implementation of the 17 September 2020 and 27 May 2021 agreements. We see the Council as the main engine driving the electoral process. We do not support any alternative forum.” SRSG James swan said in a tweet.
Earlier today,Somalia’s PM and the NCC met with the representives of the international Community to discuss about the electoral process.
