Speaker of the House of the People Visits Key Ports and Free Zone in Djibouti

DJIBOUTI CITY (SONNA) – The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, visited Djibouti’s PK23 Free Zone, Doraleh Container Terminal (SGTD) and Doraleh Multipurpose Port (DMP) as part of his official visit to the country.

The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen trade cooperation between Somalia and Djibouti and exchange experiences in modern port management, cargo handling, logistics and trade facilitation.

The Speaker commended the Government of Djibouti for its progress in modernising port infrastructure, improving logistics services and creating an enabling environment for trade and investment.

He noted Djibouti’s strategic role as a gateway connecting the Horn of Africa to global markets and expressed the importance of building on bilateral cooperation to promote shared prosperity and regional economic integration.
