Marrakech, Morocco (SONNA) – The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), participated in the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech, where global security leaders discussed international cooperation, cross-border crime prevention, the fight against scam networks, enhanced police capabilities, improved information-sharing, and the adoption of modern INTERPOL procedures.
During the sessions, Minister Fartaag underscored Somalia’s commitment to strengthening its role within INTERPOL, advancing international security cooperation, and securing technical support, capacity-building, and modern equipment for Somali security institutions.
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Fartaag, accompanied by Somalia’s INTERPOL Chief General Mohamed Ali Dhoorre, held a bilateral meeting with China’s Vice Minister of Public Security, Mr. Xu Datong. The discussion focused on deepening bilateral ties, expanding security cooperation, enhancing training and equipment support for Somali security agencies, and strengthening joint efforts in counter-terrorism.
