Mogadishu, SONNA – The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has categorically denied what it described as false and misleading information circulating on various platforms regarding its services to Somali citizens, particularly in relation to the issuance of official vehicle license plates.

In an official statement, the Ministry confirmed that license plate issuance services are operating normally and without interruption. It emphasized that there are no obstacles affecting the provision of this essential service.

The Ministry clarified that the claims being circulated are deliberately intended to disrupt the implementation of directives issued by Security Agencies concerning the receipt and installation of official vehicle license plates.

According to the statement, certain individuals are allegedly being incentivized to spread misinformation aimed at undermining public confidence and obstructing lawful government measures designed to enhance national security.

The Ministry underscored that the use of official license plates serves the best interests of Somali citizens by strengthening public security, facilitating traffic monitoring, and preventing activities that may threaten public safety.

Officials noted that official license plates represent a legal requirement and play a critical role in safeguarding property and protecting lives.

The Ministry further clarified that there is no internal conflict within the institution, affirming that operations are conducted in a unified and orderly manner in full accordance with national laws. Reports suggesting internal disputes were described as baseless and misleading.

The Ministry directed Security Agencies to pursue individuals responsible for spreading misinformation and to ensure accountability in line with national security and legal frameworks.
It also urged Somali citizens to remain vigilant against unverified reports and to rely on official Ministry communication channels for accurate and reliable information.
