Somalia Steals the Spotlight at the colorful IGAD Media Awards 2024 in Nairobi

Nairobi, SONNA – The annual IGAD Media Awards gala dinner was held last night in a vibrant and colourful event in Nairobi, marking the second year of this prestigious ceremony. The high-profile event saw the attendance of Cabinet Secretaries, the IGAD head, the USAID East Africa Director, several ambassadors, and other important regional leaders.

The evening was filled with excitement and recognition of outstanding journalism and media contributions across the region. Among the many awards presented, the most prestigious accolade, the Lifetime Achievement Award, was awarded to Mohamed Shil Hassan. His remarkable contributions to journalism were celebrated with a standing ovation, which marked the climax of the event.

The ceremony also recognized winners in various categories, including Print, Radio, TV, and Photography. Each category showcased the exceptional talent and dedication of journalists and media professionals from the IGAD member countries.
