Cyber Jaya, Malaysia – SONNA — The Federal Government of Somalia, represented by the National Communications Authority (NCA), has signed two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with Malaysian institutions to strengthen digital regulation and cybersecurity cooperation.
The first MOU, signed with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), outlines collaboration in areas such as 5G technical frameworks, regulatory exchange, and institutional capacity building.
The second agreement with CyberSecurity Malaysia aims to enhance Somalia’s cyber resilience. It includes cooperation on cyber incident response, threat intelligence sharing, capacity building, and cyber diplomacy.
NCA Director General Mr. Mustafa Yaasin Sheik signed both agreements, describing the partnerships as timely and practical steps toward Somalia’s digital transformation. Malaysian officials welcomed the collaboration as an opportunity for sustained technical exchange and mutual growth.
The MOUs reflect Somalia’s commitment to aligning with international best practices in digital governance and cybersecurity.
