Tripoli, SONNA — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Ali, has participated in the official reopening ceremony of the headquarters of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) in Tripoli, Libya.
Upon arrival, the Minister was received by the Prime Minister of the State of Libya, H.E. Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, as part of a high-level event attended by Foreign Ministers from CEN-SAD member states.
The ceremony, inaugurated by Prime Minister Dbeibah, marks a renewed phase for the regional organization following a period of inactivity, with a shared commitment to revitalizing cooperation and strengthening institutional engagement among member countries.
Somalia, which has been a member of CEN-SAD since 2001, views the reactivation of the organization as a strategic opportunity to enhance collaboration across the Sahel and the Horn of Africa. Key areas of focus include security cooperation, economic integration, and regional connectivity.
The Somali government reaffirmed its commitment to actively contribute to the organization’s renewed agenda, underscoring the importance of collective action in addressing shared regional challenges.
The participation highlights Somalia’s continued engagement in regional and multilateral platforms aimed at promoting peace, stability, and economic development.
