Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Somalia is being represented at a key meeting on the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) by Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, Jabriil Abdirasaaq Haji Abdi; State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Mohamed Omar (Ali Balcad); Somalia’s Ambassador to Uganda, Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare; and other senior officials.
The meeting, which opened yesterday at the technical level, advanced today to the ministerial level. It brings together ministers and senior officials from countries contributing troops to the AUSSOM mission, including Uganda, Kenya, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. Representatives from the African Union, the European Union, and the United Nations are also in attendance.
Discussions have centered on enhancing support for the Federal Government of Somalia and strengthening the AUSSOM operation.
The meeting is expected to conclude with significant decisions aimed at bolstering stability efforts in Somalia.
