Mogadishu, SONNA– The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has expressed his profound sorrow and condolences over the passing of Dr. Mohamed Yusuf Hassan, a revered figure in Somalia’s health sector. Dr. Mohamed, who served as the Chairman of the National Health Professionals Council (NHPC), passed away in Mogadishu, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to the Somali people.

In a heartfelt statement, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud extended his deepest condolences to the family, relatives, the health community, and the Somali nation at large. He highlighted Dr. Mohamed’s invaluable contributions to the country’s healthcare system, describing him as a pillar of the health community who dedicated his life to serving others.

“Dr. Mohamed Yusuf Hassan played a major role in saving the Somali community. He was one of the most important pillars of the health sector, volunteering his time to ensure the health of the community and producing generations of skilled health professionals who continue to serve the people and the country,” said President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The President also reflected on Dr. Mohamed’s commitment to sustainable health development in Somalia. He noted that Dr. Mohamed’s leadership and expertise in health sciences had a profound impact on the country’s healthcare system, particularly during challenging times.

“Inna Lillaahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un (To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return). May Allah have mercy on Dr. Mohamed Yusuf, the Chairman of the National Health Professionals Council, who served his people during difficult times and stood by his country to achieve sustainable health development. He specialized in health sciences, guided professionals, and provided exemplary leadership,” the President added.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud concluded his statement by praying for the deceased, asking Allah to grant him a place in Paradise and to provide patience and strength to his family, relatives, colleagues, and the Somali nation during this difficult time.

Dr. Mohamed Yusuf Hassan’s passing marks a significant loss for Somalia, as he leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and service. His contributions to the health sector and his efforts to train and mentor future healthcare professionals will be remembered as a cornerstone of Somalia’s progress in healthcare development.

As the nation mourns the loss of a great leader, the Somali government and people honor Dr. Mohamed’s memory by reaffirming their commitment to advancing the health sector and continuing the work he dedicated his life to.
