Somalia Launches National Job Portal to Boost Employment Opportunities

Mogadishu, Somalia – SONNA: The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia has announced the official launch of the National Job Portal (www.jobportal.gov.so), marking a significant step in addressing the country’s employment challenges. This innovative digital platform, now fully operational, provides free services for all public institutions, private companies, and international organizations to advertise job vacancies and contract opportunities. The portal represents a key component of Somalia’s national strategy to enhance youth employment and streamline connections between job seekers and employers in an increasingly competitive labor market.

Developed as part of government efforts to modernize employment services, the platform offers comprehensive solutions to longstanding challenges in Somalia’s job market. Job seekers across the nation can now access a centralized database of opportunities, while employers benefit from an efficient system to identify qualified candidates. The Ministry emphasized that this initiative particularly targets Somalia’s youth population, who face disproportionate employment barriers, by creating more transparent and accessible pathways to career opportunities.

The launch of the National Job Portal reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for economic development and social progress. By eliminating traditional recruitment obstacles and reducing costs for employers, the platform is expected to stimulate job creation and workforce development nationwide. The Ministry encourages all organizations operating in Somalia to utilize this free service, underscoring its potential to transform the country’s employment landscape and contribute to broader economic growth objectives.
