Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has implemented a state-of-the-art weather monitoring and forecasting system, marking a major step toward modernizing aviation infrastructure in the country.
The newly installed system is part of the third generation of meteorological satellite technology (Meteosat Third Generation – MTG) and operates via satellite to provide highly accurate climate data. This advancement significantly enhances flight safety and supports real-time monitoring of weather patterns and climate changes.
The modernization aligns Somalia with leading African nations in adopting advanced meteorological technologies. The upgraded system positions the country as a regional leader in aviation safety and climate responsiveness.
According to the Director General of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Moallin Hassan, this milestone represents more than just a technological upgrade. It is a strategic achievement for the nation in climate adaptation, aviation safety, and leadership in modern air navigation services across the continent.
