Somalia Hosts High-Level Tanzanian Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Mogadishu, SONNA-The Federal Government of Somalia hosted an official dinner for senior government officials from the United Republic of Tanzania, reinforcing the longstanding diplomatic ties and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation across key sectors.

The event was led by Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi , alongside Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo. Their discussions highlighted the shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations and addressing mutual interests in development, security, and regional integration.

Other distinguished attendees included Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Daud Aweis , and Tanzania’s Minister of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Honorable Dr. Pindi Hazara Chana, who focused on advancing cultural exchanges and promoting tourism cooperation between the two nations.

Health collaboration featured prominently, with Somalia’s Minister of Health, Dr. Abdi Adan, and Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Health, Honorable Dr. Godwin Oloyce Mollel, engaging in discussions to address shared healthcare challenges and identify opportunities for partnership in public health and medical advancements.

In the realm of defense, Somalia’s Chief of Defence Forces, Major General Odowaa Yussuf Raage, met with Tanzania’s Lieutenant General Salum Haji Othuman, Chief of Staff of the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces, to deliberate on strategies for enhancing security and promoting regional peace and stability.

The dinner was also attended by Hamza Haadow, Permanent Secretary at Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside senior departmental directors from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, and Information, Culture, and Tourism. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit and the importance of institutional engagement in achieving shared goals.

This high-level engagement demonstrates Somalia’s and Tanzania’s unwavering commitment to fostering stronger diplomatic ties, promoting mutual development, and advancing regional cooperation for the benefit of their people.
