JEDDAH (SONNA) — The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ali Mohamed Omar, held a high-level bilateral meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The strategic dialogue took place at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah, occurring on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Executive Committee.
During the diplomatic exchange, Deputy Prime Minister Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity and full support for the sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Furthermore, the Pakistani leadership strongly condemned the illegal Israeli recognition of Somaliland as a separate state, aligning with Mogadishu in defending its national borders against external interference.
The two ministers acknowledged that the relationship between Pakistan and Somalia is deeply rooted in longstanding historical and religious affinities. Building on this strong foundation, the officials exchanged views on actionable steps to advance bilateral cooperation across various critical sectors, specifically targeting advancements in trade, technology, and the enhancement of people-to-people contacts.
