Djibouti (SONNA): The National Media of Somalia and Djibouti have signed a cooperative and twinning agreement. The ceremony took place at the Djibouti Ministry of Information and Communications, where ministers from both nations addressed the audience.
The Somali Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Daud Aweys Jama, and the Djiboutian Minister of Communications and Posts, Mr. Ridwan Abdullahi Bahdoon, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. They expressed their commitment to fostering mutual understanding and knowledge exchange.
Mr. Bahdoon, speaking on behalf of Djibouti, praised the readiness of both countries to implement the agreement. He thanked his Somali counterpart for the cooperation and highlighted the potential benefits for both nations’ media landscapes.
The signing ceremony, held in Djibouti, saw the participation of key figures. On the Somali side, Abd Fatah Dahir Jayte, the director of Radio Mogadishu, signed the agreement. Meanwhile, Djibouti’s Director General of Radio and Television, Adan Abdi Jama, represented his country.
The event also welcomed the presence of Somalia’s Ambassador to Djibouti, Mr. Salad Ali Jelle, and Djibouti’s Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Mohamed Rashid. Additionally, Minister Daud Aweys Jama and his Somali delegation, currently on an official visit to Djibouti, toured the Djibouti Radio and Television (RTD) center to gain insights into its operations.
This partnership aims to strengthen media ties between the two neighboring nations, fostering collaboration and enhancing journalistic practices. As the agreement takes effect, it opens up new avenues for information exchange and cultural understanding in the Horn of Africa.
