MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Isse Gutale, alongside Deputy Auditor General Mukhtar Mohamed Abukar and senior agency officials, convened a high-level bilateral meeting today with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, H.E. Wang Yu. The strategic dialogue centered on establishing robust cooperative frameworks and advancing technical proficiency in national auditing standards.
During the session, the delegations prioritized the development of human capital within Somalia’s financial oversight sector. A primary focus of the exchange was the integration of advanced educational opportunities, specifically detailing the specialized Master’s Degree programs provided by Nanjing Audit University. This academic pipeline is designed to equip Somali audit officials with world-class expertise in financial accountability and governance.
Auditor General Gutale expressed profound appreciation to Ambassador Wang Yu for China’s consistent support of Somalia’s state-building trajectory. He highlighted Beijing’s vital role in fortifying government institutions and enhancing the operational capacity of civil servants. Furthermore, the Auditor General acknowledged the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for its crucial role in facilitating this diplomatic engagement.
Both parties reached a firm consensus on the necessity of institutional alignment between the Supreme Audit Institutions of Somalia and China. This direct channel will facilitate the exchange of strategic experiences and technical knowledge, ensuring the rigorous management and safeguarding of public resources across the federal government.
