Mogadishu(SONNA)-Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre participated in a ceremony commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the People’s Republic of China, held in Mogadishu today on Tuesday.
In his speech during the event, the Prime Minister emphasized the historical significance of this milestone, highlighting that the relationship between Somalia and China is grounded in deep friendship, respect for sovereignty, mutual understanding, and win-win cooperation.
He noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1960, the two countries have navigated various phases amidst regional and global changes, with China consistently standing as a supportive ally of Somalia’s national priorities.
Prime Minister Barre specifically acknowledged China’s recent announcement to allocate one million dollars in aid to assist the Somali people affected by drought, calling it a testament to genuine solidarity and enduring friendship.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Somali Cabinet, various ambassadors based in Mogadishu, and other honored guests, celebrating a partnership that has lasted over six decades and continues to evolve.
