Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – Somali Police Force has arrested Abdiqani Dahir Shire for allegedly cutting down large trees with a tractor in the Gubta area of Deyniile District. The arrest was made by the Deyniile District Police Station, and the suspect is set to be brought before the court.
The police issued a stern warning to Somali citizens, urging them to avoid the destruction of trees that are beneficial to both the environment and the community. “Somali citizens are warned to avoid the destruction of trees that are beneficial to the environment and people,” the police statement read.
This arrest depicts Somalia’s ongoing efforts to safeguard its natural resources. Earlier this year, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change took a bold step by banning the use of plastic bags across the country. This ban aims to reduce plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has been actively involved in various initiatives to protect the environment. These efforts include campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of preserving trees and other natural resources. The ministry has also been working closely with local communities to encourage sustainable practices and prevent deforestation.
The recent arrest in Deyniile District highlights the government’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws and protecting the country’s natural heritage. The Somali Police Force and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change continue to collaborate on initiatives aimed at preserving the environment for future generations.
