Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia held its sixth session, chaired by the Speaker, H.E Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobe), alongside Second Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Omar Abshirow.
At the start of the session, Sergeant-at-Arms Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan (Nuux) administered the oath of office to MP Mohamed Abdi Hassan (Afweyne) as a new member of parliament.
Following this, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Hassan Moallim Mohamud presented the Somalia-Türkiye international judicial cooperation agreement, highlighting its significance for Somalia’s justice system and its potential impact on judicial reforms.
Additionally, Minister of Finance Bihi Iman Igeh delivered the second reading of two key legislative proposals:
1. Amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Law
2. The Income Tax Bill
MPs engaged in a debate on both bills, assessing their national importance and raising concerns about potential contentious provisions. The Speaker directed the Finance Committee to incorporate MPs’ feedback into the third reading report before presenting the bills back to Parliament for further deliberation.
