Riyadh (SONNA) – Officers from the Somali National Army recently participated in a high-level conference focused on combating terrorism through advanced technology.
The event, held at the headquarters of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, saw Somalia represented by General Abdirahman Mohamed Turiyare, the Somali Armed Forces’ attaché to the IMCTC, along with other senior officers.
The conference brought together member countries of the IMCTC to discuss innovative technological strategies to counter terrorism in today’s digital age. Key topics included the use of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity measures, and the integration of modern surveillance systems to enhance counter-terrorism efforts.
The conference aligns with Somalia’s ongoing efforts to stabilize and rebuild the nation, contributing to its long-term security and development goals. For Saudi Arabia, this partnership is part of a broader strategy to foster stronger ties with African nations, positioning itself as a key player in regional security.
