Mogadishu(SONNA)-On 21 December 2025, the Somali National Army (SNA) conducted a planned security operation against Al-Shabaab terrorist elements in Jabad Godane, an area under Xawaadley District in the Middle Shabelle region.
During the operation, approximately 15 members of Al-Shabaab terrorist group were neutralised, including senior operatives known for orchestrating terrorist activities and targeting civilians. Those confirmed killed in the operation include:
1. Jaafar Aden – the Al-Shabaab commander responsible for the Jabad Godane area.
2. Abdirisaq Ali – the group’s medical officer.
3. Da’ud a field commander leading a militant cell operating in the area.
This operation has significantly degraded the group’s operational capacity in the area, particularly in terms of leadership, coordination, and logistical support. It forms part of the ongoing and sustained efforts of the Somali National Army to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure lasting peace, stability, and security across all regions of the country.
