Kismayo, Somalia (SONNA) – Elite Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army (SNA) have inflicted a significant blow against the Khawarij militant group in the Lower Juba region, killing over 40 fighters and capturing several key members, including leaders. The successful operation, which took place in the Barjaale area under Afmadow district, also resulted in the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and the destruction of militant hideouts.
Speaking to the National Media, officers who spearheaded the offensive confirmed the high casualty count among the Khawarij. They also showcased photographic evidence of the deceased militants and the elaborate underground tunnels and fortifications that were dismantled by the Danab forces.
The officers emphasized that the operations are ongoing, with SNA forces actively pursuing the remaining Khawarij elements. Danab forces have successfully cleared the militants from strategic areas, establishing a strong presence where the Somali National Army is now firmly in control.
This success in Lower Juba is part of a broader, coordinated offensive across Somalia. In the past few hours alone, more than 120 Khawarij have been neutralized in ongoing operations targeting the Hiran, Lower Shabelle, and Lower Juba regions. The relentless pursuit of the remaining militants continues in all areas where these decisive engagements have taken place.
