CAIRO, Egypt – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalan Abdi Ali, arrived in Cairo today, Friday, to lead the Somali delegation at the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum. This high-profile diplomatic gathering is scheduled to convene over two days, from December 19 to 20, bringing together key decision-makers from across the continent and the Russian Federation.
The forum will serve as a major platform for dialogue, convening Foreign Ministers from African nations alongside high-level representatives from various regional organizations. The assembly aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster a spirit of collaboration between the African continent and Russia, addressing shared challenges and opportunities in the current geopolitical landscape.
This session builds upon the foundational work established during the first Ministerial Conference of the partnership, which was held in Sochi, Russia, in November 2024. The Cairo conference is designed to review progress made since the inaugural meeting and to set concrete, actionable goals for the coming year, ensuring that the partnership delivers tangible benefits to all member states.
Key items on the agenda for the two-day summit include deep discussions on expanding trade relations and attracting foreign direct investment. Furthermore, the delegates will explore strategic cooperation in the energy sector and the critical development of infrastructure, which remains a priority for Somalia and other African nations seeking to accelerate economic growth. Somalia’s active participation in this forum highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to diversifying its international partnerships and engaging in economic diplomacy to secure resources for national reconstruction.
